Sensei Schrader holds the Aikido rank of godan (5th degree black belt). He began his study of martial arts in 1963, taking his first Aikido lesson from Shihan Koichi Tohei in 1967. He has black belt ranks in a half-dozen styles, including 9th degree black belt (Hanshi) in Shorin-Ryu Karate and instructor rank in Iaido. Sensei Schrader is also a senior instructor at the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba of Sarasota.
