Membership Dues

Membership in the USF Aikido Club is open to university students, staff and faculty, and to non-students as well. Dues are as follows:
  • $20/month (to be paid at beginning of each month by cash or check)
  • $80/semester (must be paid by Oct. 1 for Fall, Feb. 1 for Spring, and June 1 for Summer)
  • Members who sign up to pay by Paypal subscription will receive a monthly discount (below)

Students are expected to be responsible for paying, as this is the best deal for aikido in the area. Students who do not pay regularly are not eligible for testing or receiving any of the benefits available to dues-paying members. Only members who pay dues are eligible for club benefits, such as mat fee discounts, seminar discounts, and other discounts.

What are the monthly dues for non-students?
Non-student members pay the same dues as students; however, the USF Recreation Center (where we train) charges non-students a $5 guest fee to enter the building, every time - AND CANNOT TAKE CASH (bring a credit card or check). Instead of paying guest fees, any non-student can get an USF Alumni Card, which allows them to purchase a Recreation Center membership ($20/month or $190/year). Alumni cards cost only $40 per year, less for family memberships. This makes it still very inexpensive for off-campus members to join and train with us (roughly $40-$45/month), however one must go through the process of obtaining memberships and photo ID cards. You can call 974-3177 for more instructions.

Mat Fee
If you are just visiting from off-campus or training irregularly, a small donation (up to five dollars) per class is a nice gesture.

Annual membership fees
There is an annual $35 membership due to our national association, the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba. This is required to be able to test, be promoted, and receive ranks and certificates. Annual dues are due in January, or for your first test (whichever happens first).

What are the fees for testing and promotion?
We use the promotion system and fee structure of our national association, the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba (ASU). this works out to $35 for each test that you take up to black belt, paid in advance (before you take the test). This covers the cost of registering your promotion, and a japanese rank certificate issued from ASU. You must also have your annual dues paid up.

Benefits
To encourage students to take advantage of opportunities to improve their aikido, we provide partial reimbursements for seminars and mat fees.

With documentation of payment, students may receive the following discounts:
  • Mat fees: $5 per class, maximum of three times per semester.
  • Seminar fees: up to $15 per seminar, to be determined by club president.

Payment Options
Dues must be paid at the beginning of the month. You may pay your dues by cash or check (payable to "USF Aikido") directly to one of the club officers, or you may pay by credit card or other options using PayPal below. If you register with the autopayment, your first month is free (you can cancel at any time without penalty).
