Members of our club frequently travel together to train at regional and national Aikido seminars, and we occasionally serve as host for seminars by invited high-ranking instructors. Our head instructor, Guy Hagen, is also sometimes invited to teach seminars, and we also make those opportunities into group events. We often arrange discounted rates, or partially reimburse our members for participating in seminars.

Annually, we help to organize the ASU International Winter Intensive training seminar at St. Pete Beach, Florida, taught by Shihan Mitsugi Saotome and several of ASU’s leading Ueshiba Juku instructors. In partnership with Shindai Aikikai and the ASU Sarasota Dojo, we also help to organize the annual Florida Rokudan Seminar, which is a regional black belt testing event taught by several Florida 6th degree black belt instructors each August. We host this seminar at USF every third year, including next year’s seminar (2012).

Over the years USF Aikido has had the privilege to host invited seminars taught by such Aikido luminaries as Frank Hreha Sensei, Art Benjamin Sensei, Dennis Hooker Sensei, Wendy Whited Sensei, Patty Saotome Sensei, John Messores Sensei, Steve McPeck Sensei, Duane Jones Sensei, Jim Alvarez Sensei, Todd Jones Sensei, Mitsugi Saotome Shihan and even Koichi Tohei Shihan.

Information regarding seminars that we host will be posted in the Seminars section of our Library.
