 Summer Camp Reminder
Just a some quick reminders for those of you going to Summer Camp in the Rockies.
-Get to the airport early commensurate with the TSA/Airline recommendend travel guidelines, especially if you're checking bags. -If you're flying Southwest, print your boarding pass 24 hours in advance of flight departure. -double check baggage policies/charges with your airline. -verify travel arrangements from airport to the camp (and from camp to the airport). -make sure you bring confirmation numbers and details of any travel/hotel arrangements you may have made with you, sometimes hotels etc lose things, but with a confirmation number they're more likely to help you. -weigh your bags ahead of time (a bathroom scale works, or the scales at Publix).
Things to bring: -weapons (refer to them as "dancing sticks" at the airport unless you want to have a close and personal "interview" with Bubba, the friendly TSA agent, consider consolidating/sharing a weapons bag for travel). -sun block, hat and sunglasses (the weapons classes are typically outside). -bathing suit and towel (the hot springs are great). -Comfortable walking/hiking shoes for those rare occaisions when you're not training. -If you have any intent at all to go white water rafting on the off day, bring some shoes you don't mind getting wet. -Cane tip protector for your jo if you bring it and want to use it while hiking ($5-$20 at the local drugstore). -Camera.
If I manage to come up with anything else, I'll post it.
